So..... has anyone else heard about the possible release of a new supermono? Part of the 7 new models by 2010.
The original supermono was made in 1992/3/4/5 and was essentially 1/2 an 888 racing bike. The back cylinder was gone and it started with 549cc 75bhp @10,000 rpm. Apparently at 122kg and such a low centre of gravity it stuck to the track like shit to a blanket and handled superbly. It was used in the 'Sound of Singles' racing competition of the time and was meant for production but it never came to be. 66 in all were made. (Source: Ian Falloon) Picture below...
The rumoured new Ducati single would be half a 1098 and possibly named the 548. Underslung exhaust, double sided swingarm and styled similar to the 848/1098 at 132kg. Expected to be similar power to weight ratios of the 600 supersports.
KTM are expected to do the same with the RC8 as well (called an RC4). (Source: AMCN)
