New subcriber.. a few questions..

I signed up with CricKet yesterday in Portland, OR. I've been lurking and reading for a few months, and after searching have a few questions...

1. Customer Service competency - I've read the "Holiday" thread and others..would you say that Customer Service is responsive and can fix most problems you throw at them?

2. I bought a Samsung Messager (SCH-R450) and picture messenging sending is hit or miss, often taking 2-3 attempts to successfully complete.. texts also sometimes take 2x to send... is this normal or because my acct is so new? First text at store failed and sales person (and I'm 99% sure was talking out his a..) said "Oh..new towers/new service..it will be ok in 2-3 days". ARE there new services/towers going up in Portland? Or is this abnormal?

3. For picture messages that DID go through .. yesterday I got the normal T-Mobile notice about receiving an MMS. Today though, I get a weird "initial user WAPbloghtml failure" notice which seems to indicate something on T-Mob's side because of the way they handle incoming MMS translation to online albums.....but I'm wondering why it worked yesterday and not today?

4. It looks like I'll be buying a flashed smartphone from someone in the Mafia soon...but question is: Will I need to update the PRL manually when it changes, or can flashed phones use *228 normally?

1. They are good for what is paid to them, for basic ESN changing and plan changing or refreshing the account. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT EVERY TRY AND ASK THEM QUESTION'S ABOUT REPROGRAMMED PHONES. THIS IS NOT THEIR JOB.

2. I have no idea about the NEW Towers / New service thing, but what i can tell you is that cricket has/is having problems with new customers and text messaging. We've had to call in and have them refresh the whole account again to get it to work properly.

3. Again call and refresh the account.

4. You can have the phone programmed OTA by dailing *228 as long as they have resetted the MSL to 0's

Thanks for answers. I knew about CS and non-CricKet phones. I'll wait the 48 hours for new accounts and if still not working will ask for a refresh.

i was having problems with pictures yesterday on my 3 year old line. nothing would send i don't think it was specific to you. as far a CS goes i can tell up this. if you pay your bill on time every month and never get shut off you will probably never have an issue with your account. i would say that over 99% of problems people have with their account are related to paying on time and issues with prorations (not being paid on time). there are occasionally issues after someones service has been suspended for non payment and then being reinstated and something doesn't work right(still rare).
if you are really having problems with your account tho you should go to a competant dealer or a corporate store. If a trouble ticket neeRAB to be filed they will be able to do that their. no one in CARE or any corporate store will help you with technical issues if you have a flashed phone. if you're having a problem and you're using a flashed phone about the most you can get them to do is to refresh the account (delete and reload to switch) they won't spend a lot of time on your problem.

as far as new towers i don't know any specifics other than cricket does expand coverage regularly, i beleive this year 500 new towers were added in existing markets, but i think it's more likely there was a limited outage possibly due to the integration of networks going on right now.
