New Smartphone/PDA

Sadly, my current smartphone has decided to die abruptly. It is an Audiovox SMT5600. It has been the most durable phone I have ever seen. I have hosed it, dunked it, hit it, thrown it from a second story floor onto concrete, and yet the rugged little joker still has no damage to the screen.

So I now face a problem. I need a new smartphone, but I am not sure which one I should get. I need a very durable one, going to college and work put a lot of wear and tear on a phone.

I have looked at many phones but I have been unable to find one that offers everything I want.

First and foremost I want a very tough phone. Second it has to be 3G compatible. Then the third requirement is a very fast CPU and loads of onboard memory. I use the phone for a lot, everything from shoutcast to divx movies. Preferably no flip phones.

Hopefully you guys can help me out with some phones in different price ranges.

Example:
sub $250
$250-$400 range
$400+

Any help would be appreciated.

Your options are very limited at this time: basically the HTC S740, the ever-present Treo, and the AT&T 8525. There's some phones coming soon which will expand your choices, so keep an eye out. These include the HTC "Kaiser" I believe, and the US version of the Nokia N95.

By the way, forget about anything under $300. Not going to happen unless you get something subsidized by AT&T.
