New Queer Cinema and the film "Poison"?

For a film class I am taking, I have to write a paper on the film "Poison" by Todd Haynes, and discuss about how it relates to the five goals of New Queer Cinema according to one writer, Michele Aaron. I am unsure about how the film can be connected to 3 of the five goals, and was wondering if anybody has seen the film that could maybe help me out.

1. How does the film give voice to the marginalized (not including homosexuals, rather the subgroups within, ex: latino, african american, etc)
2. how do these films defy the sanctity of the past, particularly the homophobic past
3. how does this film defy death? Also does the dr. leper die at the end of the horror section?

It is probably a stretch that anyone has read this. but if so, i would love some help. thanks!
