New pipes vs. slip-ons (C90)

Howdy everyone. I just bought a new C90 and can't wait to ride it. I live near Cleveland, OH so I may have to wait until May.. (Cleveland weather induced sarcasm) Anyway, I was surprised at how quiet it is. I want more rumble out of it but I don't have a ton of dough to spend. I'm looking into both new full exhaust systems and slip-ons. I'm finding that slip-ons seem to be hard to find.. perhaps they're just not advertised as well as full exhausts. Any advice? Does anyone have after-market pipes on their C90 that they're happy with?

PS.. congrats to all of you who ride a C90 or C50.. gorgeous bike!

You will get a little more sound out of slip-ons over the stock pipes, but not nearly what you will get out of a full system. That is because the head pipe on a full system will be larger and allow the engine to breath better. Shortly one of the more knowledgable members will post a better answer.

The C90 doesn't have the ability to do slip on pipes. The stock exhaust comes from the head. Does a 90 into the muffler mounted below and behind the trans. then 90 out into what looks like mufflers. (just housings). You will have to go with a complete system to get the sound your looking for.

When I bought my bike it already had aftermarket pipes on it, which was a selling point for me. It has the Vance and Hines Longshots and the carb was rejetted(its an '02). I really like the sound, its loud but not to loud. If you want it louder you can get the Shortshots or drag pipes. But then what I would call loud you might say its quiet. BTW congrats on the new bike, enjoy.

I'll make you a deal on some Hard Krome 3" Big Straights. They're for sale in the for sale section. Don't think they're too loud, they're just about right ;-)

Thanks for the replies folks.. finally getting to ride it some. I couldn't be more pleased. I went to a rider's hangout over the weekend and had Harley riders commenting on how good it looks. :P

As of right now I'm thinking I'll get some Cobras from oneidasuzuki.com for roughly $300.. haven't decided which ones yet.

Doubt it.

All a full system does is change out the full pipe. Head pipe may be the same size, just have a different style.

I have just slip-ons on my 800...and I can guarantee you it sounds as well as, or better than any other S50 with a full aftermarket exhaust.
