After losing my data card and being unenthusiastiac over the new BB 9650, I jumped ship and went back to my old Rep who is now with Vzw and got the Droid X. I love this Droid world! Alltel's Droid choice(S) are way too limited and come so late! Thanks for all of your advice and wisdom these last few years! I will still monitor this forum as I have friends who have no option but to stay with Alltel. Am trying to help someone decide on a Droid now. I think they should wait...

The whole divestiture thing really put a phone line up in limbo....
ATNI/AWCC are aggressively looking to grow and expand ALLTEL...this includes the phone lineup...
yes..things went a little hiatus for a while...but there IS a light at the end of the tunnel...
Basically starting up a new company....Going from 15 millions customers to 1 million .... and having to work with the Verizon transition team has been a stressful time....but the things we loved about ALLTEL are still available....
the NEW alltel is definitely looking to have a larger presence throughout the USA...

Moto, would you say it's worth waiting out? I mean, I love the coverage I get where I am, and I love my data package. I would love to get in on some of the newer phones though. Currently the Galaxy S line is soooo appealing to me.

I'm having some really tough decisions to make lol.
My wife will be completely happy with the Droid coming, especially if the bootloader isn't locked. I want a little more, and the Galx S phones have me so intrigued and wanting one. The Fascinate will be my only option, unless something is coming to Alltel in a reasonable timeframe. I'd be willing to even wait another six months.

Moto, you're are awesome! I'm crossing my fingers.... praying even! lol If it is, Alltel has kept me for at least another two years, plus however long it takes for the phone to come out lol.

Desire is a great phone... roughly equivalent to the HTC Incredible. It's interesting to see the HTC Bee on the roadmap too... an entry level Android phone, which I assume is going to replace the rather outdated Hero.
This is what I predicted a while ago, that Android is going to become the de facto phone OS. I really don't think that you'll see too many dumbphones a year from now, with the way Android is spreading. "Feature" phones like the LG Banter and Tritan are going to become a thing of the past, making way for low-end Android-based smartphones.

Went into Alltel today and talked with a friend. He stated that they've put the Milestone on hold and they won't be getting it this month. He also stated they didn't give them any updated release date.
Moto, and clue about this? Any other updates?
I went ahead and got a Hero for now. He said I had 30 days to test it out, so what can it hurt right...? Hopefully a more powerful Android phone will be released on Alltel, or at least announced, within that 30 days. I can say between this and my wife Incredible, this phone lags behind badly. I doubt I'd wanna keep it, but I will give it a chance.
