Well it never hurts to ask. :) Keeping a customer happy and preventing them from jumping ship to another carrier should be a good thing though. :help:

just played with the alltel hero today very nice!! hopefully no bugs so we can get it out asap. Now by saying that you are testing an alltel branded Driod, are you talking about the hero or actually the motorola droid?

The only thing I have against the Hero is the smallish screen. It's only 3.2in where the moto droid is 3.7in. I'm certainly not going to look a gift horse in the mouth though. Anything would be better than what is available now. :clapping:

Is Alltel doing anything custom on it, or can we expect it to be very similar to the Sprint version?

I kind of like HTC's original design for it.. black, square, industrial looking.

I just noticed that the HTC Incredible will be available on Verizon April 29th for $199. I hate to beat a dead horse, but I hope for Alltel's sake that the Hero is priced right whenever it is released.

If they release the Hero at an inflated price, I feel a lot of people like me will say "screw it" and jump ship to a different carrier.

the Hero is too little, too late. You'd be better off buying an Incredible or Nexus One unsubsidized. Being an HTC phone, getting it fully functioning on Alltel shouldn't be too hard. But at this point, it's either the Incredible or the EVO (if Sprint won't kick me off for roaming) when my contract ends in August or whenever I get a get out of jail free card if/when AT&T ever gets cleared for the buyout.

I don't know man, Verizon's prices are insanely high, at least here in S.E. South Dakota. To go from Alltel to Verizon for 50 less anytime minutes, it's $230 more a year. So, paying a little high price for the Hero would still be worth it in the long run.

I'd go Sprint before I went Verizon. I'd get the EVO if that was the case. I was just saying that Alltel shouldn't demand a premium price for an old phone. Hopefully they won't.
