If I knew of other devices I would definitely drop hints. The Hero is the only android device that has been confirmed. I know that the handset team wants to launch more android devices as soon as possible but I have no knowledge of any specific devices beyond the Hero.

The funny thing is that we'll all have sour grapes again when/if Alltel releases any truly NEW phones. The reason I say this because pretty much all of us are going to jump on the Hero the day it is released. :lol:

That is, if they don't charge an arm and leg for this "new" premium phone. I hope their marketing dept isn't that stupid.
 
I don't think 2.1 can be rooted yet, but that will be fixed soon. Hopefully overclocking the phone a bit will overcome the lag issues.

I'm dumping Alltel on the 29th. Verizon and the Incredible it will be for me. So, so tired of the virtual ancient technology that Alltel rolls out for their phones. My BB Pearl flip was a step up from my former dumb phones, but the HTC Inc will be a major, major step up from the BB flip. So I'm willing to pay the ETF to get a top of the line phone. If Alltel just offered up to date phones, I would stay with them. Guess that's not in the cards.
 
I'm not sure, but has the Qualcomm cpu in the Hero able to be overclocked? I know the DROID's is a mean overclocker and the snapdragon SOC in various phones has been overclocked by a couple hundred mhz, but I've never seen the Hero's above the 528(?)mhz.
 
Setcpu should work as long as the phone is rooted. I've seen it work on the snapdragon (nexus one) and other phones with 528mhz qualcomm chips.
 
I seriously check this thread twice a day looking for updates... I don't know how much longer I can wait, when the Hero comes out I might not be able to wait anymore...
