New Phone(s)

Im with you there. With the exception of the Sprint Everything Data plans, there is nothing that can beat my Smartchoice plan. I seriously doubt that AT&T will grandfather in Alltel plans. Thought I dont want to pay more (or go down to one smartphone), I'm gonna go with what works in my area and right now, the only other choice is VZW.

Sprint is a viable option price wise, but coverage wise, my home is in a area of no Sprint coverage. I also do not need unlimitted and that is where Sprint really shines. My Smartchoice 500 is pretty hard to beat with it's unlimitted texting, unlimitted data and 15my circle.

I personally think they will grandfather them in as long as you do not need a new phone and continue to use your ALLTEL phone (of course, eventually you will have to switch to a GSM phone) As soon as you need a new phone, you will have to get a "AT&T" phone and a nice new high priced AT&T plan to go along with it. That's pretty much what Verizon did to all their new customers.

pretty easy to beat it... Sprint with 450 minutes, unlimited text, and data, and unlimited to ANY cell phone in the country... oh yeah and it's $30 cheaper. But as you said if your home is in a no sprint zone then you really can't get them...

Not to mention that EVO looks Filthy sweet.

Care to confirm or deny rumor of Motorola Droid on Alltel?

I'm kinda guessing from the lack to clearing the subject up you are going to do neither.

I can neither confirm nor deny. I have honestly not seen or heard anything internal about it but that doesn't meant it doesnt exist.

Then perhaps MowTowRollAh meant DROID as in android os hero?

I don't wanna spend money and my new contract on a hero if the droid is around the corner.

Alltel and Us Cellular would release similar devices in the past... as of right now US Cellular has the HTC Desire and another samsung android in testing.. could alltel have the same devices in their lineup?

Maybe, but the Hero will be the first android device Alltel launches.

I haven't noticed any but other testers have complained about intermittent lag. Overall I think it works very well. We will sell the crap out of this when it finally launches.

It would be nice if Clay could let us know if much better phones were coming very soon after the Hero. I'm going to jump on the Hero because my old phone is killing me. I'd hold out a bit longer if I knew for sure something was in the pipeline better than the Hero.

I just talked to a CS rep and was told that the new android phone is supposed to be available April 29th. They still wouldn't confirm exactly which android phone it is. I don't like all of this super secret BS, especially when your customers have been in limbo for quite some time and haven't jumped ship totally out of loyalty.
