My company is switching from Cingular to Verizon. I currently have a Treo650, and we run GoodLink for mail. We will have an unlimited data plan on Verizon (Currently I'm only on an 8MB plan with Cingular, so this is a big step up for me.)
I'm generally happy with my 650. Every once in a while it slows down but it's not that bad. I have a nice case for it (Vaja), but if I get something I can't reuse the case with, I will sell the Cingular 650 along with the case.
Stuff I like about T650:
ONE HANDED OPERATION, very nice. Makes it easier to find a contact quickly or whatnot.
Screen, accessible keyboard
Speed - no "out of ram" crashes and junk like a Windows phone
I can't decide on a new phone. Options:
Treo 700 (p or w)
Treo 650
Samsung i730
HTC Wizard (Verizon XV7800 or whatever the model is)
Motorola Q
I'm already ruling out the HTC - the fact that I'd have to turn the phone to use the keyboard, plus the fairly slow CPU makes it a deal breaker.
The Moto Q is tempting me, but I have a feeling I'll go crazy running WM Smartphone. I'm used to having a full-blown PDA on me, limitations like no copy/paste would suck. The size is fantastic though (a coworker has one already).
I've looked at the Samsung, and the AWESOME screen has tempted me. The slider looks neat too, although when I played with it in a store it was getting annoying to try and use the 4-way nav with the keyboard retracted. Every time I hit up on the nav, the screen would start to slide up a little, which was annoying. It's also big, and has no camera. I like cameras, I don't use them much but they can be handy for some things. Also, see my note above about Windows phones. I hate having to force close apps, and I'm worried about the one-handed navigation on the Samsung.
Treo 650 (verizon) - I really hate to get the same phone all over again, although reusing my case (and chargers) would be cool. I'm seeing this as an opportunity to upgrade though, so i'm sort of turned off by just getting another 650.
Treo 700p - I haven't used or seen one yet. What has changed about PalmOS on them? Faster? Screen better? Not a lot of info about this phone around right now. I think I could reuse the chargers on both 700s, this is cool, but my case doesn't quite fit right (tried it on my boss' 700w).
Treo 700w - i know they've hacked WM 5 a bit to make it easier to navigate with one hand, and I appreciate this. I played with one, and it is cool. They give you a keyboard shortcut to the task manager [hold down OK], which helps - the Q doesn't have one, and I don't think the Samsung does either. Again though, constantly having to force quit stuff stinks, and the screen on the 700w is actually lower resolution than the 650.
So, any opinions? I could really use help, as they want me to make a choice by week-end if possible.
