I moved to CA with my car that was registered in NH. As I am a student and it was registered in my dad's name, I did not register it with CA. I sold it to a friend about a year ago and just received a ticket in the mail he received a few months ago. The car has since been towed (and probably sold or melted) by the police department.
I contacted the owner and he said he would pay the ticket but as far as I know he hasn't. As far as I know I turned in all the correct paper work. How do I release myself of legal obligation?
