New off-brand or used known brand dirt bike?

I cannot stress strongly enough not to purchase an off brand bike as they break very easily and then trying to get parts for them is impossible. Many of the known brand bikes for smaller children will hold their value and i know my children's first bike which was a pw50 was sold for more than what we paid for it. Just make sure it has been well maintained and you should be fine

speaking out of experience, because I did it, don't buy off brand unless you are an experience mechanic. They break down easier, the parts are easy to find and cheap too, specially this days with the internet. it saves you a lot of money when you go off brand but you are going to pay it back in mechanic's fee unless you're doing it yourself

My son is ready for a bigger dirt bike. I am looking for opinions. Which would be a better option a new off-brand or a used known brand such as KTM, Honda, Yamaha, etc? I can't find any reviews online for the off-brand. The cost savings is HUGE $1-4000.

He is 6 and my guess is he will be needing a "new" bike every couple of years if not sooner.

The Mr. and I are in a bit of disagreement over this. Thank you for your thoughts and opinions.
