Impression states:

1. Broad based disc protrusion at L5-S1 and a right paracentral position effecing the SI root.
2. THere is disc bulging and annual tear at L4-L5 without significant stenosis.
3. The thecal sac is imprinted at both levels, and there is left sided foraminal encroachment at both as well as right sided encroachment at L5-S1.

What in the heck does all this mean....please reply...my back hurts...

Hi, looks to me like your main problem is the disc between L5 and S1 is hitting the S1 nerve root, which I'm guessing is probably causing you sciatic pain down your right leg? Do you have pain or nurabness or pins & needles down the outside of your leg, calf, or in your foot?

You also have a bulging disc between L4 and L5 that has a tear in the disc. The bulge might or might not be causing you any nerve impingement, as it shows no significant stenosis (stenosis means narrowing), but that doesn't mean it isnt causing you any pain. The tearing of the disc probably had caused some burning pain deep down in there. I know when I've had tears, i felt like something was burning inside my spine. That is b/c the gel that's in the disc leaks out with a tear and it causes irritation on the surrounding nerves and can cause pain.

I am not sure what imprinted thecal sac means. I know the thecal sac is a merabrane that surrounRAB your spinal cord and cauda equina (the nerves that come off the spinal cord in the lurabar spine). My MRI's showed "indentation" of my thecal sac, which means something is pressing into it, so perhaps imprinted means somethign similar..but I am not sure on that.
