new law from october for people doing practical test for cars in uk?

It's next year, 2010, and the idea is that at some point the examiner will just ask to be taken to the railway station, library, or whatever and you will have to make your way according to road signs. In other words, for that part of the test he/she won't be giving you the usual directions like "turn left at the junction ahead" and so on, but leave it to you to plan your route.

Which a good instructor will be doing anyway as you approach test standard.

It is also planned that your "supervising driver", whether it be your ADI or unqualified escort, will have to sit in on the test and debrief. That's proving an unpopular proposal as it means that, if the examiner's supervisor sits in as they do from time to time to check on his standards, there'll be four of you in the car . . .

I heard this aswell, but apparently its only for a short part of your test. Although, when you do your lessons your driving instructor should take you on all the possible test routes, therefore you should really know where you're going.

my instructor she did told me that from october when you want to pass your practical test they wont give you anymore directions but just ask you to drive somewhere and you just can check with the map is that truth?
