New hotness - Firefox 3?

Firefox 3 isn't really a new hotness, just more of the same. Kind of like a third Krispy Kreme doughnut after you've already had two -- tasty, but not really remarkable. I like it though.

My Firefox is set up like so:

Also, I'm using the WinStripe Modern theme to get the Firefox 1.5 look. I had to download it from >>here

Except with a much smaller memory footprint. I'm a lot happier with it myself.

It certainly seems to load everything lightning fast as well, but I haven't attempted to quantify that or find anyone who has, nor am I aware of how they attempted to address that.

They spent a lot of time making under-the-hood changes. The biggest improvement was in taking unused plug-in memory and returning it to the OS to be used for other things. It's nice to have, yes, but if you have more than 1GB of RAM (and most people do nowadays), it really doesn't make two biscuits' worth of difference to the user.

On the GUI, the biggest thing they changed was the address bar now shows more detail about URLs that match what the user is typing -- also a nice-to-have, but I have yet to say to myself "damn I'm glad they added that, I'd never have found that website without it", so...meh.

Third doughnut when you've already had two.

...you're presuming I'm not also running a development environment and an oracle database on my machine all day. I am. Any program being less of a memory hog is welcome.

Who gives a shit about the GUI? It's a web-browser.
