New GM at a hotel looking for ways to boost business?

I am becoming the GM at an Econo Lodge and am looking for interesting ideas to stimulate our business or make extra income. I don't care if you are a GM or have ever even worked at a hotel, this question is pretty general. Ideas could be things like putting in vending machines, selling bottled water at the front desk, ways to cut our current expenses, or any other creative ways to save/earn any additional income. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated, I don't care how far out in left field some of them may seem, I'm trying to think outside the box on this since the previous GM has exhausted every option he could think of.
