New member
I just wanted to intro myself - new to the site and the Duc world. Always been a fan of them but never got one, back ground in bikes is all Jap bikes from RC51 to GSXR 1000s an 750s - but I finally wanted a bike that had history and value so about a month ago my new 1198 came home! Hope to learn more and look forward to chatting...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I've searched wikipedia and googled the word ducatisti and no specific definition came up. I had it translated to Italian and ducatisti means "was" and Ducatista means "Ducatista only affiliated to Ducati". I initially thought that one is a singular and the other is plural. So..... does it mean that Ducatista is more appropriate? OK, I know I'm not making sense anymore. I'll just go at the back of the room and keep quiet.

Welcome by the way PapaPump 51 as a new Ducatisti or Ducatista or whatever.

Sorry Neo, you're incorrect here: PapaPump's got it right.

Ducatista = singular (1 Ducati fan)

Ducatisti = plural (many Ducati fans)

The weird thing here is that this is one of the few exceptions in Italian where the gender of the word changes in the plural. Strictly speaking a "ducatista" (feminine form) should become many "ducatiste" (f, pl).......the vernacular, however, changes to the masculine "ducatisti" in the plural. Just like "pilota"-f (literally "pilot", though also refers to bike racers/riders) changes to "piloti"-m in the plural......

ps - welcome papapump

Well for the record as far as the whole Ducatista thing - Per the CEO of Ducati he states the person for the passion of the Ducati is a Ducatista - Just for the record - I have more then enough history on the Ducati Co. back ground so there is my contribution to the site... Anyway back to the bike
I have to say the Ducati is a bike like no other... I wont own a Lambo or Ferrari ( nor would I want the payments) but the Duc is awesome - people just stare at it, weather it is at a light and that Vtwin is thumping the windows of their cars or just the red paint in the sun... I am very proud to be in this club...owning this bike is great.. it handles like no other bike that is for sure and since I am still in break in I have only been to 6500rpm, soon to be higher... I know you have all seen red 1198s but here is a pic.
