New compression on CBC?

Maybe it's a new year and I'm a year older but I just watched todays Jeopardy on the CBC HD east feed and I could swear that there was a lot of jitter on the scrolling graphical stuff... such as when the categories were revealed, etc. It almost looked like a bad graphics card... not smooth at all.

I watch Jeopardy ever single day and this was not normal...

CBC, Bell-TV or the source feed?

Thanks, Rich

I would say it's Bell TV compression. You have to remember two new HD channels were recently added which means more compression on every channel. Since the additions, I have noticed more of what you are explaining and noise around solid lines on any fast motion, way worse then normal. The outdoor game on CBC there was tons of noise around the stuff outside the rink that should be solid lines. Alot of arifacts on other channels as well. Some channels don't like much better then the SD equivalent other then the better color. CNNHD is all that looks good right now.

That isn't true. Each transponder operates independently of the others. Adding another channel on one transponder could only affect the quality of channels on the same transponder. As of today, CBCE HD only shares transponder 08 with two other HD channels, which isn't unreasonable.

805 HD-VU

Last night I recorded Jeopardy on 1211 ABCHW. I just checked it and there was no "jitter" at all. Nice smooth scrolling. So the source feed from syndication is not the problem.

What changed with the CBC signal as of Jan 1? On Dec 31 everything was fine.
