So my fiance is planning on claiming on his taxes for this first time this year and I was just wondering if we will qualify for the new college tax credit? Every site that I have looked at is talking about parents with children in college but I can't find any information about any alternative dependent claims. Also, I've found that you have to have spent at least $4000 in your tuition- do student loans count? and do living expenses (mostly rent) count toward this too? Thanks so much for any help!!!
