that is a very neat idea, wouldn't take much to do that one, now if only guys were into bags on the superbike we really would be on to something, I'll look into it though as it sounds very interesting, are you using cortech or tourmaster bags, or what kind?

I didn't look thru all the posts, so I'll apologise if this was mentioned before - the single sided swingarm begs for a protector right about where the swingarm bends back to the rear sprocket. I've come across some aftermarket CF swingarm covers that have a protruding CF piece to protect flailing hands or toes from being entangled in the rear sprocket in a crash, but I've never seen a purpose-built alloy or CF piece that can be bolted in place on the underside of the swingarm, like many of the past Ducati SBK 996/998's, RC 30's and RC 45's from Honda.

and alloy engine case protectors for an 09/10 Yamaha R1 too Nick.. as well as the Ducati's .. and water pump protection, apart from the ridiculously priced speedymoto ones, there's not much choice..

Basically, yes. But fitting one on Ducati's SS swingarm, can be a bit challenging. Here is an OEM Honda piece (arrowed), albeit made of rubber, on my 2001 VFR 800:

The upside, if you could fabricate one from alloy or CF, is that you would be the only one on the market with this piece of protection. In case anyone were to ask, no it does not interfere with chain cleaning chores, at least not on the VFR.
