New bike recommendations and opinions.

I am looking for a new bike and would like to get some recommendations and opinions.
First off I'm 42 years old and have never owned a sport bike. I am also only 5'6" tall with a 30" inseam and need to be able to reach the ground easily. I'm looking for something to ride around town and may take a few 100+ mile rides. I may also ride to work and back. 20 miles one way and may be in heavy highway traffic. Stop and go on some hot days. Give me your thoughts and opinions. And if you need more information I would be glad to post it.

Monster 696 is a great bike for what you described. I wouldn't get a Superbike if you plan to commute a lot. The Mutistrada and Hypermotard are very tall. The Classic is nice too. Good Luck.
 
Thanks... I was thinking Monster 696 but wondering if I should go with the Monster 1100. Any reason other than price you wouldn't recommend the 1100 over the 696?
What about insurance? Would the 1100 be much more? And what could I expect to pay for insurance. 42 with a good driving record. No tickets on my record.
 
The 696 has the lowest seat height at 30.3 inches. The 1100 is a bit taller at 31.5. Height isn't everything though, I only have a 29" inseam and easily ride an 800S2R with a 31.9" seat height.
 
In that case, get a test-ride of what your heart desires, then also try something you think would be far more sensible (eg 848 vs M1100). In the end it's the riding that will determine what you'd be happier with..
