new bicycle question?

i bought a bike from asda because my old one was worn out but its driving me mad! i just use it to get to and from work some days but now its taking me a lot longer. even when i put the gears up high, it wont go fast and feels like its really hard work to use which ive not felt with other bikes ive had. also it really stinks of chemicals and my trousers and hands stink and are tainted with it. help!
 
Hi. Sometimes new bikes can take some times to get easier to use.. it's like a new shirt that feels kinda uncomfortable when it's new. Use the bike for few more days and it will get better i hope. Thanks. :)
