This just in!

There are now NEW BlackBerry data plans from Rogers Wireless.

There is no link available, because the plans were just released this afternoon. It was only by coincidence that I took a co-worker to the Rogers dealer, and they had just received their new pricing for August.

All the current plans are still available. But there is a new addition:

200 MB for $100 / month.

There is no information for any voice & data plans at this time.

Best thing is to visit your favourite dealer, or call *611.

The dates to watch for are August 1 (regular monthly pricing update) and August 9 (back-to-school plans introduced). Rogers.com will eventually be updated, but not as quickly as your dealer.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~thank god fir that I was just posting my first and last bill $700!!!
I talked to them and asked how much I'd used after the first week to guage usage, (bb don't tell you?) And they said they could not tell me. Oh well back to phoning costomer relations - there really good.

I'm not entirely sure how Rogers measures data. Judging from my invoices, it's based upon an algorithm of data and time. As in, every x days it will record the data use, unless your data use goes above y kb.

My last invoice, which included half a month of 7100r and half a month of 7130g...(nightmare!)...it was showing a few hundred kb every 2 or 3 days on the 7100r. But with the 7130g I have daily entries of MB each day!!!

I'm scared to get the July bill. I know I will be over the 25 MB limit. But August! 200 MB!!!

Thank you, Ted!

"because of a competitive market that is why our prices here are that high." That is what a Rogers BlackBerry rep said to me yesterday when I called asking about any data plan updates.

update. Called Rogers over the weekend... They are gonna hate me soon!

I was able to get the promo 25MB plan for 30 dollars for 3 months. Since I had just updated my commitment a month ago. I renewed again...

The offer is to renew your commitment for 3 years and get the plan for 30 dollars/month for 3 months.

Thats it... Still they need a consumer BlackBerry plans... cheaper prices too! More data! Maybe they'll update tomorrow based on the first post here from Lewis.

Thanks!

Rodgers in Canada is riping you guys off big time. My mouth drops to the floor as I am reading the posts. I live in San Francisco, & I have T - mobile as my provider. Here is what I pay for my BB service:

On top of my monthly rate for voice calls of USD200.00 for 5000 Minutes a month. I pay for the BB service an extra 20 dollars a month for unlimited KB of data. I also pay an additional 20 dollars a month for the unlimited KB's international BB data service.

See if you all can get on to T - mobile.

Yeah... They keep saying how it costs them so much and that there is way more customers in the US so it is easier for US carriers to offer better plans at cheaper prices. But they can't do that here in Canada because there is less people.

The big problem in canada is that there's really not a lot of people using data device and the 3 providers that we can use got the same pricing on data so I think we'll have to wait for loooonnnggg time before having any interesting pricing Used to be with rogers for my BB but now that I work for Telus I got my BB with them but the pricing are not really better

Hi there

I have the 25 meg $60 plan in July they had a promo for unlimited for 3 months. I used 50 megs d/l software in one month. I can't wait for true unlimited so I can use my RIM for a mobile modem for my laptop. I think current Canadian prices are terrible and if one company can find a reasonable soloution to this they WILL make money. (as a matter o' fact I'm skeptical of billion $ corps that say they are poor and can't afford to do things... call me jaded)

Regards PoopyShoe

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~Isn't RIM a Canadian company? If so, they should help their fellow Canadians out a bit. A BB is an all data device. Maybe if data packages were reasonable in Canada more people would use a BB.

No need sadly, Robbers has grown out of what was little more then a pathetic cable TV provider 10yrs. back into a monopoly. With 80% plus of the wireless market in Canada you dictate and there is little bottom feeders like Bell and Telus on the wireless side can do to compete aside from keep in line with price structure and create a norm across the carriers.

My org finally gave up on Robbers sometime ago. We bought unlocked 8700c devices with TMo voice/data plans and int'l roaming and no answer transfer our local no. even with the US rate it's cheaper then paying into the Robbers piggy. Oh yes we have true unlimited data as well...

I really love reading all these posts 'cause now I know I am not alone dealing with Rogers aka Robbers. Maybe more people writing here complaining lotz about Rogers and how each one of us have been ripped off by them. Do you think that will help? Maybe they will listen and maybe not, but I can tell you are not alone and crazy having had paid so much for a data plan that's supposedly "unlimited".
