Never physically comfortable

I'm almost 30 y/o and for the past 15 years or so I've had trouble being comfortable when I sit or lay down. I find that I'm always twisting, turning, and moving around no matter where I sit. I can't find a comfortable chair/couch, etc. or a comfortable position. The same applies to beds and trying to sleep. I don't have any pain or anything like that. It's just that I'm uncomfortable. I find it amazing that my 70+ y/o relatives can sit or lie down comfortably in the same position for over an hour and I can't do that for 10 minutes. Trying to sleep can be like a nightmare, I toss and turn many times before falling asleep and can never get my pillows in a comfortable position for my head. I feel like there's something wrong with me.

Is there any medical reason(s) why I would have problems finding a comfortable position to sit or lay down in?

Perhaps you have never learned the art of relaxation.

Try relaxing your feet, then go on up your body little by little until your whole body is relaxed. Will take practice.

Not being able to clear your mind might be another cause. Think of one letter and say over and over not letting any other thoughts pass through your mind will help.

A cleared mind and relaxed body should make you feel great.

I don't know whether restless leg syndrome can be a whole body problem or not.

I do have trouble relaxing but I'm not usually aware of it. A hair stylist (a relative) was shampooing my hair a few years ago and commented on how I needed to relax. She was having difficulty shampooing my hair because I couldn't relax my head and I was all tensed up. Up until then, I never realized I had a problem relaxing because I guess I'm so used to being tensed up. I was probably 26 or 27 at the time. I now realize that the reason why I get neck and back pain is because I sometimes clench my teeth. I sometimes notice that my shoulders are raised up as high as they can go and I have to try to relax them. I don't know why I get like this. I can't relax, I've tried. I've tried things that are supposed to be calming or soothing but nothing helps. I was prescribed an anti-anxiety medication a while back to see if it helps with my breathing problems. The pills certainly relax me but they also make me very sleepy so I can't take them on a regular basis.

I know I don't have restless leg syndrome. I had a sleep study done several years ago and there were thankfully no signs of restless leg syndrome.

I think I might have attention deficit disorder but I don't know about the hyperactive part. I had problems paying attention and concentrating in school but I was never a problem. I was always the most well-behaved child in the class. The only thing I ever did was constantly twist and turn in my desk, I could never get comfortable in it. Other than that, I don't have any of the hyperactive or impulsive symptoms typically associated with ADHD. Although, I think I may have Asperger's syndrome, if that matters.
