so a few weeks ago (about 2) it decided to snow about 12 inches. i dont really dig the snow... but since ive never been sledding i convinced my b/f to go around the block (where this hill is) and go sledding. we didnt have a sled so we used a body board. i was having a whole lot of fun until i decided Mike (b/f) should stand on the body board and go down the mountain. he took my dare.. stupid ass!! he succeeded he went sliding down the mountain while standing. he brings the board back up and tells me its my turn. being the very daring bitch that i am (even though i am a white girl and have no coordination) i decided to take his dare. i get down the mountain fine but decide before the board is done moving that i am going to jump off with one leg.

so anyway long story short i hurt my knee a lot. i couldnt walk on it for a few days. its now about 2 weeks later and im still having problems with it. its hard to sleep on, and if i jump to things to quickley i hurt it a lot and start to limp on it for a day or two.

my dog was just about to puke on the floor so i jumped up from my chair to let him out and hurt it again. i want it to go away :-/ poor me!

is this considered an issue? i can never place things in the right area.

Nope, not an issue.

You don't know what fun is until you truck a 5 year old who pops out of fucking nowhere. Works especially well with an intertube and 280 lbs on ya.

I would definitely go see a doctor. I've had knee problems since I was 14 (back in the stone age, i was blindsided by a brontosaurus). Use moist heat compresses, keep it slightly bent all the time, try not to put any lateral pressure on it (i.e. keep your knee pointing up when you're reclining, don't twist on it, pick that foot up when you want to turn, etc)

A towel soaked in hot water is the best, i've found. Keep it on there til it's air temperature. When you're not doing the compresses, keep flexing it when you're sitting, the movement and heat increase blood flow to the joint and help it recover faster.

Knee injuries are the most painful i've endured, i've even had one of my knees rebuilt from the inside because i shattered it. Only a doctor can really tell if you'd done anything serious, like tearing the cruciate ligament or the cartilage inside the joint. I really, really recommend going to see one and getting some x-rays.

Whoops, that reminds me. Back when I was in 8th grade, during a soccer game, I was sprinting toward the ball and my right leg popped really loud, grinded what seemed to be down my kneecap, and snapped really bad shortly after. I was in EXTREME pain. Seriously, it hurt like a bitch. So, when I decided to play football the following year, I used a cheap Wal-Mart brand knee brace. Worked like a charm, for about a year and a half. Because I favored my weaker left knee while my right was recovering, I developed a disease called Ozgood Shlater's (something like that). Now, randomly, my left knee will pop really bad, and a lot of fluid will drain out from the inside, and go back in whenever it feels like it.

My advice, icy hot patches, and use a knee brace. Occasionally, take walks. Shortly at first, then longer with recovery to your bad knee. The brace is pretty cheap, too. Like maybe $11 (american) at Wal-Mart.

ooo i wish i had medcal insrance. i was actually going to go to the ER when it happened but i wound up waiting it out. you dont think it will get better on its own? im trying not to strain it.. its not like im going jogging on it. thing is when i keep it bent (thats how it feels comfortable) i feel like im not stretching it. stupid snow, stupid mountain, stupid sled, and stupid stupid jessica :cryme:

well hopefully you just strained it. my knees used to do what east was describing quite often. they'd just slip out of joint while i was doing things. I had to learna new way to walk, stand and turn to keep it from happening. The knee brace is a good idea.

If i read that correctly, you said it was two weeks ago and it's still really bad? I would definitely go to a doctor. Maybe a community clinic, it's a lot cheaper than the ER. you can still stretch the leg, just don't straighten it out completely. Lay on your back, pull your knee up to your chest and bend your leg as much as you can, then straighten it back out. keeping it flexible is important.

It could be just some badly bruised cartilage. It could also be as bad as torn cartilate or a torn ligament. Only a doctor could tell for sure, and i don't want you to have to go through the PT i did after i broke my knee.

Oh come on man, don't be bashing therapy. Yes, it sucks, but that only depends on the therapist. Now, if she had my dad (he's a PT), you'd be begging for morphine. In the end, it helps.

I wasn't bashing therapy. My PT was awesome and never made me feel embarassed for having the issues i did. I meant I hope she never gets to the point where she needs PT.

thanks for the advice guys. im going to go get a rbace for it as soon as my b/f gets paid and can buy me one :-D

it sucks not working.

thats terrible. like the others said keep heat on it and flex it alot. i know sledding has been dangerous for me too. i took out a couple bales of hay, an electric fence, and my sister, no mager damage other than a lot of bruises and cuts.

I hate sledding too. This winter I was sledding on the hood of a VW beetle and I was riding with this huge dude. We decided to try and go over the smallest ramp ever and it flipped us over and I ended up with the huge guy on top of me. Not fun.
