"Network Connection Lost" w/Cricket

"Network Connection Lost" - I am so tired of seeing those worRAB!

It seems as though I have to retry every other transmission. Is this normal with Cricket?

It actually has gotten so that I click, cancel and click again because it seems to go through without that error message whereas if I sit and patiently wait for the transmission to complete itself, it comes up with the lost connection message and retry option.

What is up with this?

I am using the Samsung Messager II (sch-r560) and I have this happening all the time. I might be doing a google search, writing an email, going to a url . . . or even simply going to the m.google website to start a search.

It seems as though I get that message about every other time I click on something . . . on anything.

Does that answer your question?

I am REALLY a noobie . . . when you ask that, I am not sure how to answer. My phone right now shows 3 bars and the 3G icon is displayed. It does sometimes flip back and forth between the 3G icon and the 1X icon. The nuraber of bars changes depending on where I am in my apartment.

I did both a phone reboot and have had my account refreshed but it didn't change the continual "Network Connection Lost" situation.

Interestingly, it doesn't happen very often when I am tethered to my laptop.

I thought it was some typical Cricket kind of thing so I posted in this forum about it. How can I know if it is a carrier problem or a manufacturer problem?

I did the phone reboot because of a phone problem . . . it kept turning itself off and on. The reboot helped with that problem to some degree but didn't change anything with this connection thing.

:^/ I get terribly spotty reception in our home because our neigrabroador to the south is on a hill that blocks our view of the closest tower, further south. If I go out to our street, reception is crystal clear, as it is through most of town. Perhaps your situation is similar, and reception in the home is spotty? Try moving to another area to test the reception there.

I will try this but it seems unlikely since it doesn't happen when I am tethered.

It happened just now when I attempted to send the last post, it took two tries for it to go through.

I had an old phone that said not to cover up the antenna with my hanRAB when talking. I would see the bars go up, and down when I tested covering it up. The the phone had an internal antenna. You might be getting the same thing mixed in with the hill, and the house. When I read that you it works better when its tethered, I thought of you not having your hanRAB over the phone. Hope this helps.

*A lil tired atm, so my wording might be off =P

Actually, I did read something about where your hanRAB are and the internal antenna. I think that you might be on to something! I will explore this possibility!

Thanks!

old thread but Im in the charlotte NC area and I get this all the time.. makes web browsing unuseable.. Im really unhappy with web access on my r560. Im gonna put a bb online later thisweek which doesnt use 3g.. just edge.. I suspect 3g is the problem.. although will edge even work? Sigh.. Im gonna end up plunking down $200 on a ZIO..

If your BB uses edge it's GSM, edge is Enhanced Data Rate GSM Evolution. So you won't have an edge data connection on a cdma network. On a side note have you tried other PRL's?

I mispoke.. not edge.. the other one.. forgot the acronym.. its cdma.. anyway.. no, because you cant modify PRL's as far as I know on a Samsung R560 or whatever it is I have (messenger II).. boy am I lazy tonight.. dont want to look up anything..

Yes, EVDO.. lol.. my girlfriend has my brain cooked... Well, I'll look into that but the messenger II is a tough nut to crack simply because nobody gives a damn about the ugly brick-like pos.

My father is sending me his 1 yr old BB tour.. (Im 45 btw not a kid).. once I get that and flash it maybe I'll have better luck.. its a damn shame cricket refuses to put flashed phones on their BB plan.. Im not sure it was a good decision.. I know ATT and verizon have no issue doing it.. if they can Cricket can.. stupid stupid stupid.. a much better device would give them better value and they arent even paying for the phones.
