Net Neutrality does two things,
1) the original concept of NN was to make it illegal to charge for bandwidth (quality of the product)
I am against this part to begin with, not only will the product degrade due to everyone being on the same bandwidth (since companies can't make their product better, there is no incentive too), but consumers will be unable to upgrade. A company or hospital should be able to purchase a higher bandwidth than an online gamer or forum user. There is a different degree of significance and priority between the the former and the later.
2) the second part of the bill, gives government the authority to control and limit sites from the general public.
I am also against this, but I suspect this was the biggest selling point for the bill. NN has failed at least 5 times, over and over again. I believe wikileaks gave the push to give government this mandate. This part mirrors Farenheit 451, also the stopping point of regulating the internet has the issue of being arbitrary, what is too much? How is this measured?
Anyways, what are your thoughts on the Wikileaks connection?
What are your thoughts on NN? My assessment?
