I'm in 8th grade science (which is like begininng physics) and i have a rllly bad teacher, and its a hard subject. i got a low grade on a test and i'm doing test corrections to get a better grade. im on the last question and it makes no sense to me!!! we were taught that the net force is all the forces added up, corrrect? and this is the question:

Two forces act on a n obbjuect. one force has a magnitude of 10N and is directed north. the other has a magnitude of 5 N and is directed toward the south. the object eexperiences a net force of....
a. 5 N south
b. 15 N north
c. 50 N north
d. 5 N north

i chose B, because 10 + 5 = 15. and i chose north because 10 was the north one, and 5<10.
Can you explain to me what i did wrong, which ones right and why???
please it would be a huge help!
