I had injections to both sides of L5 and it was very sore for 3 days but is starting to settle down now. The needle goes in about 85mm but that said it seems to be worth it. The pain in my waist down through my bottom and down past my knee's is indeed better than it was. I have to do what I can to get through the next 12 months. I wouldn't mind getting the nerve rots at L4 done as well some time to see how much difference it will make.
I need to diagnose what I can while I am waiting to get the 12 months up on my private insurance. Seeing as this is a pre existing condition. I may also have the facet joints done as well so I have recorRAB of the treatments I have had. Hopefully The surgeon will see that I will need disc replacement and not just clear the nerve on my lower right side from the sciatica. This one seems to effect my legs the most but not completely. I want this to last a long time so I am not getting surgery again in the future for the problems my disc's are causing.
I have plenty of time but I will probably be impatient in that time but it will give me time to do lots of research.
I am home again from mum and Dad's and was even able to do a trip in our boat, the first since the sciatica and the change in my back pain. I was determined to go out even for a few hours. It's been so long. I can only wish that one day I will be able to do a bit more than is possible now and not get worse as it has been this year. I must have just done to much and made things worse. Just trying to live. Now is not much like living just laying around in pain all the time.
I wish every one well and hope to catch up. bye for now.
Please say hello even though I am down under it's close enough on line.

It's been a few days now since I had both L5 nerve roots injected (nerve block) and it has helped a lot as far as my waist bottom and thighs go but I am still having some pain in the inner thighs. So I am going to see about doing the L4 nerve roots. If this stops the rest of my sciatica I will have some thing to show the surgeons next year. The trouble is I still have pain from the facet joints as well so I don't think any lesser operation will help me completely. To my thoughts it is both L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs that have to go or be fused. I am hopping for the replacement. But as I have said it is going to be a long wait anyway. Thanks. Allan.

Back to the specialist today and he injected L4 for me and is going to do S1 in 2 weeks. I get a bit confused which is which so sorry if I confuse you. I am not sure how S1 is involved but L5 and L4 nerve roots definitely effect my legs. See how I go as I learn as I go. Allan
