Nephew gets sick when he goes to beach

My 6 year old nephew seems to get sick any time he goes away to the beach. His grandparents have a beach house and his family often goes down for the weekend or even the week. In the past 4 times, as soon as they get down there, he starts a fever, a cough and doesn't feel well.

I told her maybe something in the house is setting him off, but she said sometimes it seems like he starts to feel sick before they even get in the acutal house.

Is there such thing as having a reaction to salty air?

when i was young, everytime my dad used to pick me up back in england for a week or two (he moved to germany) once or twice a year, i was always ill the night i got there or the day befor, it was the same every year & i don't know why, maybe it is somthing simular, i always found it strange

Could you take him to the beach without going to his grandparents' house to see if he gets sick there?

If he still gets sick, can you take him to a different beach to see if he gets sick there?

That might help in isolating whether the problem is at the grandparents' house, that beach, or something in beaches in general.

The problem is most likely a moldy beachhouse. Beach houses are notorious for getting moisture, which then creates mold. People sensitive to mold--especially asthmatics--can get quite sick. It used to happen to me, at least.
