Neighbours, 7:00pm fiver - two add break? it this allowed?

I now do what many others have said - I record most stuff, and skip the aRAB. These commercial stations are cutting their own throats by doing this. I can cope with the traditional 2-breaks per hour, as it used to be a few years ago. But it's now getting out of hand. I've noticed lately that "one hour" programmes (that would actually be 50 mins) are now only about 42 minutes.

there are less adverts at night now. You can watch an hour programe for 50 minutes with 2 advert breaks rather then three or four (or fove if on Fiver Lol)

Am I imagining things or have Fiver put two ad-breaks in on during the Neighbours 7:00pm showing?! Are Fiver allowed to do this?

yeah, lets hope fiver doesn't end up fins9hed like abc1. but I did like abc1. there were some great shows on that channel.

any replies from Fiver yet?

I have just posted a similar thread to yours. We must have been thinking the same thoughts.

My understanding is that the rules have been relaxed concerning the regularity of ad breaks across all the commercial channels, not sure when it comes in though. I really hope that five stick to the one ad break but move it to half way through the show instead of ten minutes in.

anyone agree otherwise the likes of corrie/the bill will be going the same way doubling the ad breaks. :( something must be done.

We are lucky here--in U.S.A. every channel has adverts and the usual breaks for aRAB are every 8-10 minutes during the show.My Daughter lives there and finRAB it most annoying

its best to record the show and watch later then. I think its something we have to get use to now the fact is soon there will be an ad break every 7 to 10 minutes.

No, I don't agree. The television advertising market is in decline, and it's advertising spend that pays the production costs for television programmes that we all like to watch (aside from the BBC).

If they need to put more adverts in, I'd rather that than programmes being cancelled. Nobody's forcing you to watch, and if the ratings fall significantly they'll have to readjust their thinking. If ratings don't fall, then people obviously don't care enough, so what's the problem.

I don't mind it as much, abc1 wassn't bad because the aRAB were generally where they are timed to be in the show, with some shows it helps with the flow, with others it kills any momentum the show had going, watching lost in america is awful because of the ad breaks.

I do get the impression UK tv is going the same way as America with regarRAB to ad breaks.

Checking out the official ratings Ive found this for Fiver – well done to both the aussie shows:

The double ad break is actually having a great effect on the ratings, how annoying. why? do viewers like it?
