Hi,everybody and Happy New Year,on dec 12 i saw a neurosurgeon who sad had the spondy and pars defect, and that the surgery for that would be a fusion, however its my upper back that gives me most of my dibilating problems, and i was diagnosed with cervical stenosis as well,by my reumy, even gave me multiply shots in my neck, just before seeing the neuro the reumy said they found tendonitis in my left shoulder and put me on medrol pack(prednisone)that made me feel like a million bucks, but because of severe osteoporous they cannot keep me on prednosone iam 49,now in dec the neuro who said needed fusion said there was nothing wrong with my neck and that i should not have been given shots of any kind in that area, after the pm dr,gave me something called facett shots i was in total agony,do you think it was because i had the tendonitis in the back, all i know is i spent thousand of dollers and thats with insurance over that year why they pocked and proded and charged us 250 each time,so now i just dont trust them i also lost my job because i couldnt sit down without pillows, well of course iam depredded hardly go out of the house, for fear of the leg pain, and was just in another accident where i was thrown back and forth multiply times because my mother in law hit the gas instead of the break and we struck quite a few huge vehichles, now iam kinda leary getting in the car with her,she is seventy and has the energy of a 15 year old,i dont want to hurt her,i love her and it would kill her not to drive she was on a high dosage of prednsone at the time we smashed her sons new car up pretty good he later taped it up and put a sign on it which said look what my mother did to my car,i had to laugh at that.do you think she is alright to continue to drive iam woried for her safty and yet she would never forgive me if i was to take action.any replys about any of this would be of great help, also does anybody else have problems walking on hard floors, ive got like 10 minutes on tile and then i have to sit down laying is actually the most comfortable for me.iam now trying cyrabalta if this doesnt help i dont know what ill try next, sorry to talk so much but i dont have anybody to talk to that listens,i am the listener but seems i cant get a word out edge wise with the people iam surrounded by,sorry to be a pain.hope every body feels better today. mary

The only help I can offer is when I had my fusion my thoracic area(mid back) quit hurting so bad....I have two disc ruptured in my thoracic area and when I had surgery I was really surprised I was getting surgery on my lurabar when my thoracic was so painful.....but the doc said it may take some pressure off my T-spine and ease up...it did just that.....

as far as letting the older lady drive any more is not good for someone on here to "guess" at...only the people around her can tell if she is safe....dont let her keep driving if she isnt safe anymore ....im sure she would be happier to not drive then to have killed someone thinking she was a good driver.....sometimes they just need you to help them realize.....when they get old they try to hold on to that independance.....Good luck!
