Need your advice and reassurance please

Thank you all for your replies, I should give buscopan a try.
They want me to do another PH study test, this time also checking for bile. They want to see if I am a candidate for surgery.
I have 2 really watch what I eat. My weak point is coffee that I have max 2 day. I know it is bad, and I know I shouldn't have any!!

Do you know how often they will repeat colonoscopy, mine was 13months ago and was fie, so the new GI doesn't think I need to have another one.
I hope he is right.
 
My digestive problems started 2 years ago with burning in the stomach, and after 3 GIs and 1 ENT I have been diagnosed with acid reflux, LPR, small hiatus hernia i am on 80mg nexium,seemed to have helped with the LR and burning stabbing pains that I have been getting in my stomach. But I am now very scared for the past 4 weeks the excess phlegm in the throat is back, the hoarsness of the voice started 2 days ago, I also need Gaviscon advance and the burning stabbing pains in the stomach are now with me daily, and it is scaring the hell out of me.
I keep wondering it could be something really bad, I guess the only thing which stops me from totally freeking out is the fact that my endoscopy in January was normal, but could something have developed in this period of time?
In the past 2 years I have had 4 endoscopies, camera through the nose and throat(8months ago), Ultrasound scan of the stomach, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy.

I need your advice for stomach burning and stabbing and need to know that it is possible to suffer even on 80mg of nexium without something really horrible bening wrong. I am 39 mother of 2 small children, and reaaly scared now. I can't stop crying because I just need to be able to look after my children, and be around them.
 
Ask your doc for buscopan for pain, it works great for flare ups, I take nexium for acid but it hasn't worked for me so far, I have to go back to the specialist next wednesday for review, feeling fine at the moment but that doesn't usually last long unfortunatly, try the buscopan for the pain hope this helps
 
Hi Aryana and all. I too had an endoscopy in Jan. and the doctor found nothing wrong inside me. But I still suffer with the symptoms that something is wrong. I really and truly believe this is from stress. I think yours may be too. My other problem is perimenopause and that has given my digestive trouble with the drop in my hormones. It does effect the digestive track.

I have been up through the night and in pain from a meal I had last night. I am exhausted. I want to sleep, but the food is just sitting there. It hurts and I just have to wait it out. This condition just stinks doesn't it?

I can't offer much advice since I'm dealing with a lot of the same symptoms. Unfortunately I have not found one medicine that has done anything for me. I have learned to live with the constant nausea and pains in my stomach. Some days are MUCh worse for me and my kiRAB (ages 4, 8, 10, and 14) all know that I've been miserable lately. Feeling sick really gets you down emotionally. I am planning to make an appointment today for some acupuncture. It worked with my headaches a few years ago so I'm going to try it. My dr keeps telling me that stress, even the good kind, can make acid reflux worse. I have been watching my diet (mostly) and it's nto working so I'm going to work on the stress part now.

ive just been searchng the net for you.in many places it says if nofin found then after 10 years.

this is what it says:

If you've had one and the result was negative, you don't need another one for 10 years. If there were polyps found, you need to be retested in three (3) years.

Thanks for your response forensic mum, are you on any kind of medication now?
As for watching diet, it seems like everything is strigger, my main weak point is coffe, but I only have one a day.
 
Oh, that must be so hard on you-I hate it when acid reflux gets in the way of my life!

When my symptoms get really really bad, I try to really cut back on food in general, because I also find that anything can trigger it. I don't eat anything after dinner which is between 5 and 6:30 for me, and don't eat "heavy" fooRAB-only stuff that digests easily.

I really hope you're feeling better soon!
 
Hello Aryana and gals. I was wondering how everyone is feeling? I have been having trouble for about a month now. I just started in Prevacid 3 days ago. At first I noticed the mucus subsided but today it's bad again. I am really trying to watch what I eat. This is scaring me. It's like how do we get it under control? It makes me panicky and I have trouble getting a breath. My throat feels tight, like it is closing in. To be honest I am afraid to eat anything. I hope nothing bad has happened since my endoscopy in Jan. The doctor said he didn't find anything. But clearly I am having LPR. I have the mucus in the throat that is non stop, a tickly ichy cough, sometimes its dry, I keep clearing my throat and I burp after I eat or drink anything.

I cut out all coffee and pop about 3 weeks ago. I only drink water. You would think I would lose weight by just doing that. Ha! fat chance. But I try to eat so carefully. This is just madning.

Anyhow...how is everyone else doing?
 
do you have the patience to meditate - that calms the body and mind. I am going to try it because I have the same sour stomach. I have two small children and they see my pain in my face. I am seeing a specialist next month. I had my gallbladder out 6 months ago and have through alot of tests afterwarRAB - my stomach keeps going sour.

I guess it is more having the time to do it. I am sure meditation will calm me and do me a lot of good, but honestly can't see where I can fit it.
I work full time, and when I get home is all the house stuff and children, by the time I usually get a chance to sit down it is usually 10:00pm.
 
Hi, am 16 and ive been sufferng from acid reflux since over 2 years.ive had a endoscopy,barium xray didnt show any signs of acid reflux.until i had ph studies which showed that there was excess amount of acid reflux.ive tried many medication from gaviscon to lansaprazole, nexium,rantidine.for my stabbings i got in my stomach i had a colonscopy.for that i was on buscopan now im on dempordine.as my medication isnt helpng im going to have Laparoscopic nissen fundoplication sugrey.looking at the pros n cons off sugrey it is better to have the sugrey than sufferng from long term acid reflux ,if acid reflux is not treated you are @ a high risk of gettings oesophagus cancer.

Well I have to say I am extremely confused. I have been off 80mg of nexium for the past 10 days because I am having another 24hr pH, and manometry test done on Tuesday. When I was on nexium I didn't get any heartburn and what was worrying me were stabbing pains and burning in the stomach. I have to say now off nexium I get the burning indigestion type feeling in the throat, but not severe, ofcourse the phlegm, but not as bad sometimes even on nexium I had a lot of phlegm, so being off nexium definitely indigestion is back, but other symptoms almost the same, but what it allows me to do is to evaluate which food make my symptoms worst.
I have also been diagnosed with severe lactose intolerance so either have lactose free milk or soya milk with my coffee, and to be honest I feel much better having cut the lactose, and bread out?!!
I am no closer to any answers, I believe our condition is somehow related to what we eat but also you go through really bad and some good times, and believe it is corabition of things such as diet, stress(in a big way) which affect ut.
I just know that all my issues started when I was going through a really tough times in my life, and that must have triggered it.
I had my endoscopy in January as well, and when I originally started this thread I was feeling awfull, and thought something really bad must have happened since then, but now I am better than then, even off med?!! I am still trying to figure this out!!!!!!

You are right in thinking there are lots of influences for how bad reflux gets. Diet is certainly one of them. Your manometry will be really telling. If your LES is too weak and not functioning properly, it is probably allowing severe reflux. Diet can help some with the LES functioning, but not if it is severe. The pH will also give a good indication as to how severe your reflux really is.

I had a second manometry and pH done last fall. In the course of 3 years since my previous one, things had gotten much worse. I have some theories, but I don't know why for sure. Don't think I ever will. On the day of my testing, I was actually feeling symptom free. I never had days like that and was really frustrated that after all I'd gone through that it wouldn't show on the tests. Turns out my tests showed my LES was not closing and that I had extremely severe refluxing during a majority of my day. This was previously confirmed during a Barium Swallow. I knew things were bad, but I didn't know how bad because I have "silent" reflux. My symptoms primarily show in my breathing and coughing. Ironically, after years of severely refluxing, my Esophagus and Stomach had no damage. Something to be thankful for.

At least after the testing, my Dr's and I were really able to focus in on where my treatment was going. They looked closely at my history and what had previously been tried to focus in on where we went next. I worked with a GI doc, Pulmonologist and ENT.
 
By the way, in addition to water, I've found I do OK with soy milk. Still boring, but adRAB a bit more variety to my beverage diet. I also do a rare glass of white cranberry or white grape juice. Don't want the calories, but helps satisfy some "sweet" cravings.
