Need urgent help/advice

Hi,

A few minutes ago I attempted to connect my w600i to PC. I installed the ericsson suite from the web and followed directions. I have done it million times before without problems, but this time the phone just got messed up. What is happening now is whenever I turn it on, the screen lits up but the OS is not loading as it should. Basically it's useless now.

Does anyone know how could I fix it? I tried to take battery of and on but still the same - it turns on and freezes at the bright white screen. Phone is out of warranty, and now I'm using my backup oldschool samsung phone. My carrier is cingular, do you think they could fix it for me?

Either update the firmware through Sony Ericsson Update Service, or flash the firmware through Wotanserver or Davinciteam. Use a search engine if you need more info.
 
Believe me I know all about them by now as I stayed up to 2AM and read lots of info about WSODS. Flashing with suse fails always at 96%.

Could someone simply put the differences between wotan and davinci?
 
Either one will work, it's just more of a personal preference. Most people would use Wotan because it's considered easier to use. Also, by flashing the firmware to generic version, you get to free up some added memory by getting rid of the Cingular crap that ou were once unable to erase.

The W600i has been known to have a less stable firmware than other SE phones, but it's still a good phone. I used to have 4 of them, and didn't have a problem with any one of them...luck, I guess =/.
 
I had w600i for 1.5 year now and not a single problem until yesterday... go figure. I like the phone and that's why I'm trying to fix it instead of buying a new one.

I installed the wotan client but after i clicked start it only shows:

phone found
DB2010 found
LOADER: OK

Thant's it!!! according to wotan's getting started manual, I should be able at this point to select phone model number etc, but here it's everything grayed out.
 
Normally it would show. I haven't used Wotan in a while, and I don't have any SE phones with me ATM to test out the client. You might want to also ask on dedicated SE sites like SEfanatics. I'm not sure if they're online right now, but Tehy (administrator) and another user Baldilocks (a moderator) should be able to help you out. Hope that helps you.
 
Just to add my two cents here DE and P88, I always ask this question because I do this myself very often at times. How did you buy the phone? Did you buy the phone out right using a credit card? Did you get the phone through a contract and paid with automatic debit from a credit card? Did you pay cash? The reason I ask this is because if you payed your purchase of the phone using a credit card either straight up or via contract, most credit card companies offer "double the manufactur warranty". If you payed $0 for the phone, your FUBAR, unless you can reflash it. Look into this as it's helped a lot of people.
 
I bought the phone when signing the contract. I got a nice discount but if was not free. I think I paid with CC but don't remember anything about double warranty...
 
Ok. So how did you pay for the first bill? Usually the first bill of the contract charges the handset to it. Did you pay by credit card and does that credit card have that double manufactur warranty?
 
I'm glad to say that my w600i is alive again!!! YAY!
I was surprised how much better it is debranded (cool videos, full 3 games etc.)

it's been a pain but now all if fine and hopefully I won't see a WSOD ever again in my life.
