Need UMTS 2100 phone

UMTS 2100 (a.k.a. WCDMA 2100) isn't supported in the US AFAIK. Might try Japan.

I'm actually looking for a mobile that we could use in Japan, South Korea, and anywhere else where GSM is used. I know that at&t isn't using 2100 MHz yet, but I think they might be soon, or at least T-Mobile will.

I can expand my budget to $300, but that's about it. Suggestions, please.

I think you can find a used N80 for under 300 probably even 250 and under. I know one that was bought off craigslist for 190 usd 8/10 condition.

I think there was one in BST also and ebay.uk if you can get the seller to ship, they go cheaper over there than in the US

The only GSM I know of for Japan is the BB 8707V, but it is only GPRS (voice) capable in the US. I think it will work in Europe, though I am not sure. S. Korea is CDMA so no GSM will work, unless they have a new GSM service that I am not aware of.

None of the current 2100mhz phones will work in the US (now or in the future).

If you get a 2100mhz 3G phone, you should be able to roam in Japan as far as I know (the European Sharp 903 can roam in Japan, so I'd assume any 2100mhz 3G phone can roam there as well).

As far as what phone to get, you may have to look at a used one in order to get the price you want
