Need to eat healthy to lose weight, what is easy to cook and is nutritional.?

Ok so is it true that the best way to eat while working out to get fit is 5-6 small meals a day? If so.. any ideas on anything i could cook in a decently large quantity and split up into 5-6 small meals for my week? What should each of my meals contain? I know you need protein, veggies.. what else should i have in each meal? Im only 18 so my cooking experience sucks.
