Need to cook safely, please help?

i want to cook chicken and i want to cut it ahead of time. like before i cook it. however if i were to cut it on a cutting board, then wash the knife i used and cutting board would i be able to use the knife and cutting board for something else next time, like vegetables or fruit? or would that be cross-contamination?
 
Cross contamination!! Cut the fruit and vegetables before you cut the chicken. Then wash the board and knife immediately then stick it in the dishwasher.
 
Any type of meat or any time you cook or cut things up it should be washed after you cut , then clean the board and knife and cut your fruit.

Common sense.
