I have a 2005 Chevy avalanche... just got it serviced, and they forgot to reset the codes. disconnecting the battery has not worked. Anybody know how this is done?

disconnecting the battery will no longer clear codes from the memory of the pcm in today's cars. You need a bi-directional scan tool. OR, you can go to any big chain parts store like AutoZone and they have a code reader that will clear codes. It is true that the codes will clear themselves if in fact the problem was corrected. However, this will take up to 40 consecutive drive cycles without a fault occurring before the history codes are cleared.

some times there is a thing in the computer that will clear the codes with several turns of the key. try the battery again, but leave it off for 20 minutes and see if that helps. if none of these things work then take it back where yo had the work done on it and tell them to finish the job!
