Need to buy a new car- HELP?

We're not looking to pay no more than $12,000.
$14,000 Is really pushing it and we most likely can't go that high, not with current life expenses.

We're looking for a newer car, but not a brand new car. Something prolly in the certified pre-owned category.

Any places that do trade ins for an 98 Dodge Neon? ( We have an offer at Greigers for $4,500 for it for the $12,000 Dodge Caliber)
No more than 4 cylinders.
We NEED a car with proper back support.
We're looking for trusted makes and models with a useful warranty that gets good in city as well as out of city mileage.
We would also like to avoid shady dealerships.
And we want to avoid makes and models that are known for pissing out altogether, especially after the warranty, heh.

We saw a good deal on a used, well, the bf did....8 year old dodge Neon for prolly $3,000-$5,000 at a used lot, Isakson's. But our 10 year old Dodge Neon's back just fell out, so I'm not seeing the point in coughing up the money just for it to last a couple of more years along with insane repair coasts. So my gut instinct is saying definitely go with something a lot newer.

Any thoughts on the 08 Dodge Caliber? Should we go with the standard make or the optimum-whachumuhcallit fancier one? What's the real difference? I am LOVING the lower back support. I'm not sure I'll be able to see over the steering wheel at a height of 5'1, but ok lol He'll be doing most of the driving.

He was interested in an 02 Dodge Solstice, but my gut says we're going a bit too old here...

What do you know about the Kia cars? His boss told him to check into it, but I'm getting really mixed reviews on that.

What do you know about the dealerships Greiger's and Isakson's? We found the Dodge Calibur at Greiger's and the Neon at Isakson's. We felt VERY uncomfortable however by the forceful methods to get the Caliber bought right then and there before we could even go home and calculate our expenses, or even look at any other cars. They weren't willing to hold it, they said it would be the first to be sold the next day... 4 days later it's still there and they lied to us about the add we received in our mail. That car has been sitting there with it's price dropping now for quite some time... mmmm hmmmm..
Also the Dodge caliber has 36,000 miles on it. And it's an 08. Hmmm..

First off most of us won't recognize those dealers...I am in St Louis MO
The next guy may be in South Dakota...
Check the used car lot at new car dealers, test drive until you find something you like....

The Dodge Caliber isn't a very good car, The Neon wasn't either...

Look for a 2006-7 with about 30,000 miles, buy the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper extended warranty

BF just bought a 2006 Kia Sportage..all included for 11000.00
So far it's been to both coasts without a problem......
