A few years ago I read a book about a guy who traveled to (5?) different areas of the world to interview people living in & through extreme conditions. He interviewed a man who lived part time on a volcano in Hawaii; people in Iceland and an area in Alaska where they get tons of snow and wind, and a guy in Louisiana (Algiers Island if I recall correctly) who lived through Hurricanes. Can't remember where else he went. Lent the book to someone and never got it back. Have done some online searches but haven't been successful. Thanks!
