Does the timing belt absolutely need to be replaced too? because I don't want to pay extra for it if it doesn't because I've heard that it's pretty expensive, I called and got a quote for the water pump and that's gonna be 200-600 dollars just itself, so I dont want to pay alot more for the belt unless it absolutely needs to be replaced too.
well I'm doing just the opposite now, I dont actually need the timing belt changed, my car is leaking antifreeze and I can tell its coming from the water pump, so thats all i was gonna have replaced.

well it is recommended that you replace the water pump when you replace the timing belt or chain. if you never think its been replaced then it should be done. not doing so could cost you alot more later
