I love my son dearly but I can hardly take another minute of the whining. He is a very strong willed child as well which is probably another reason why I feel so overwhelmed. We have tried several different approaches when he starts talking this way including... sending him to time outs, ignoring him when he does this or telling him go to his room until he can talk like a big boy. Nothing seems to work. He is driving us crazy! He is also at this age where he is starting to backtalk. I am usually pretty under control but I could really use some advice. Thanks so much!

He needs to learn that whining will not be rewarded. Ignore him when he speaks to you disrespectfully. Have him do chores for you when he is rude. Don't send him to his room. When I was younger my parents realized that I liked my room and this was a horrible punishment.
Reward him when he asks for things politely, and he will learn that it works better.
~You might find the book, Don't Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor interesting. It is a book on positive training.

well you should show a little bit of disipline and give him some time to do what he wants and make a schedule give him this time and if he is bad once take a certain amount of time away or take away somthing he plays a lot that he love to do thats what my parents did try it for about a week or two
