I am new to this forum. This is my first post
I am looking for a used diesel car, for good fuel economy, I can spend 8-10k every six months or 8000km run for maintenance .
I have 2004 ford ikon 1.6 Zxi nxt. I love this car to drive but 5 to 6 Rs/ km cost me a lot. In my search for diesel car I found a 2006 may ford fiesta 47000 km in odo. With insurance till april 2010.
I took test drive of that car and here is the report..
1.First 5 km on bumper to bumper city drive in Noida ---- No jerk, smooth drive,
2.Another 2 km on bad road ---- No rattling sound from interiors or “thud” sound from suspensions.
3.Next 10 Km on Greater Noida expressway --- Top speed 160 Km/hr, no vibration in steering, no sound from break.
4. Gear shifts are smooth, clutch is good
5.Minor scratches on front bumper and one on fuel tank side panel.
6.AC works perfectly
I don’t have sound knowledge about cars, especially engines and all that, this is my test drive report as a normal driver. I am getting this car from Mahindra first choice showroom. They offer 1 year warranty on petrol cars but not on any diesel car. This is scary..!!!! They said this is company policy “No warranty on diesel cars”.
The price is Rs 400000 but after some negotiation I am sure I will get this with in 370000 to 380000.
Is it worth to buy this car?
Is it possible to run this car for another 3-4 years with run of 25000km/year
As we know maintenance part is higher side, but as I said in upper part with my maintenance limit is it feasible to run this car?
One more option I have with some more confusion…. New ikon 1.4 diesel should cost me around Rs 590000 on road in Delhi. Should I buy a new ikon or I go with used fiesta?? As depreciation of new ford vehicle is very high. And I know after 3 years depreciation should be around 40% to 50% that means I loose Rs 250000 to Rs 300000.
Pls give me your suggestions
