PLEASE read this CAREFULLY... I need SPECIFIC information..... Does anyone know if there is a internet place where you can find the address where certain people lived in 1892 and 1893 ONLY. ( again, those years ONLY). Have been to Ancestry.com and MOST of the geneology sites etc. with NO luck and i'm looking for those SPECIFIC years ONLY. ( NO later years). There must be a site that you can enter a year and the families last name and it shows the address. ( of my ancestors). I DO HAVE where they lived in 1894-5 but they lived somewhere else in 1892-1893 from New York to Wisconsin. Is there such a web place or a place you can write to that gives addresses or could look this up for us? There must be some place or some record with the giovernment that would have a record where a family resided those years in some state and some town.. Thanks so much.

Okay, this is gonna be difficult. The best, and only, answer I can give you isn't on the web at all. There were city directories printed every year for most larger towns and cities. They DON'T put these on the web; I've checked. So, the best I can tell you is to pick where you think it is most likely that they would have been and write or e-mail the city archives. They should have the directories. They may look it up for you, or you may have to go there, if it's close enough for you.

You might also try land deeds at their archives, seeing who bought, sold, and rented during those years.

Unfortunately, the government doesn't keep such records. They only keep the census, which is every decade, and doesn't include 1890, which was destroyed in the 20's because of water damage. At the time, the government had no need to keep such information. The towns, however, did. That would be your best bet, but it's gonna take some time, and the cities in question might not still have their records. You get disaster all the time that destroy such things.

By the way, if you know where they were before, and where they were after, you'll have a pretty good idea of where to start looking, at either end, or in major cities in between. You don't rent in tiny towns when in transit to another state, after all.

The only suggestion I have would take a lot of time. So assuming you are willing to invest some time, I would say to check out the US Genweb project. http://www.usgenweb.com/
It has sites from counties in every state. Some have a LOT of information, some have limited information, hopefully, they have the information that you need. Oh, and it's Free.
Good Luck!

To find where someone lived in specific years is difficult. In Brooklyn, NY 1892 there was a census so if they lived in Brooklyn, you would be able to find them. If you know where they may have lived, you could check a city directory for the information either in a public library or from the Later Day Saints library www.familysearch.org.

Some cases if they went to a particular church, a church record might tell of which church they moved to. However, most of the time people moved to places where they knew someone.

Check the 1880 census to see if the family or neighbors show up in a certain place.

Only if you have a relative born or died would you have a government record made. Tax records for that period are probably not available from the IRS due to government regulations, but you can ask if they have anything.

Some names are too common to determine you found the correct person from these types of records.

I do not know of any Internet records with the type of information you are asking for.

Not all records can be found on the net.
