need some pointers on how to answer duc haters.

I work at the local Cycle Gear and everyday me and my co-workers have our bikes parked out front. As you can imagine we get ALOT of Jap riders through the store. Sandwiched between a Busa, M109, Victory king Pin, and/or VFR I get 20 comments to every 1 of their bikes. The guys have come up with a nickname for me and for the last 9 months I have been known as the "Spaghetti bender." I dont mind at all because I LOVE my bike (and they are just doing in good humor).

We have better commercials...

Suggest that their model is the 06 version.. When they get upset and tell you it's the 09.. say.. Oh.. they all look the same ..

Personally I say just laugh, then the next riding stint just sit on their back wheel..

Oh you DO have the termi exhaust, don't you?

If it's loud enough, and mine is, then they can barely hear their own bikes even if you're behind..

Another trick is to baulk them on the entry to the corner then just pull away on the exit. Tell them you've got big brakes and like to use them..

Again assumes you don't carry a higher corner speed than them already..

Here is what I would say:
1. Person: "I heard those have problems" or "My friends had problems"
Your response: "Wow, I'm sorry you have bad luck" or "Wow, I'm sorry your friend has bad luck"

2. Person: "Why did you pay so much when you could have bought ___ for less thats faster."
Your response: "They didn't have any that cost more."

3. Person: "How much did you pay for _____."
Your response: Tell them you payed double what you really did

Person: "You got ripped off, you payed way to much."
Your response: "I got a great deal, I wanted the most expensive one they could sell me."

I have never once had anyone come back with anything to defeat those retorts.

When someone asks you or tells you something like they have been doing, they are not the originators of what they tell you. They heard someone else spout it off. They are expecting you to be stupid enough to believe that they are asking for a genuine reason, and stupid enough to give them a defensive answer.

I once had a guy ask me "Why did you pay so much for the Ducati, when there are cheaper more reliable bikes." I looked over to his Mercedes AMG and said "I suppose for very similar reason why you bought the AMG when you could have easily bought a Lexus." His response was a Big Smile and "Fair enough."

I'd quote these wsbk and manufacturers title numbers to them. If they seem confused take them to Indy and invite them in to Ducati Island with you. Kill em with kindness!
