How many times have I had this conversation since getting my first Ducati in 1974!?
So many good responses on here, from 748's "fuck 'em" to JdW's worthy prose.
Essentially they need to understand that we are both/all motorcyclists first and foremost, and should behave like allies in the hurly-burly of sharing the road with four-wheelers.
I had a friend recently become quite painful in this way, once he'd traded in his 996 and got a new Fireblade - forever insisting how his Honda was so much better, printing off articles to back up his claim - how his bike was half the price, blah blah blah.
But I do more miles than him, and still derive immense enjoyment from my Ducati. It's that sort of machine - 41,000 kms and no problems apart from the radiator, and gives a pleasure I'm afraid no Honda can give.
As mentioned above - the Japanese manufacturers have made twins (just to show they can?) but even these just haven't got 'it'. That intangible delicious sense of joy that our bikes deliver.
Can't wait for my Fireblade ex-mate to return to the fold. He might deprive himself of the pleasure that is Ducati though, rather than realise he's wrong. And that will be his loss..

Shit I have only rode with people with Jap Bikes and when they make comments I just put them to shame and make them look stupid while riding. During pit stops I also ask them if they want me to teach them how to ride a Jap bike that way one day they can graduate to a true bike! They can say what they want but the truth is they wish they had one too! It's not like having the fat chick, it's like having a bomb shell and they try to find flaws because they are stuck with a b!@#$ that wont let them spend the money on a Duc. LOL

Is that you in the picture biglo? Shit! There's a bit of angle on that!
Hopefully your bleak view (that our women rule our choices) is not true, although I'm afraid in many cases it is..
We enjoy our Ducatis - of course we do - and this site provides a venue for rejoicing in that. Let everyone ride what they chose, in every sense.
We know what we like..

Sadly true....there are a number of trolls who frequent this site, and others with no greater purpose than to gain amusement into any number of Ducati owners' problem, perceived or otherwise.....I feel sorry for them if this is how they derive their joy.....

ive had issues with stalling, a rad leak, and a few bits and pieces that werent insatlled right, those are teething problems for any new bike. so i think they are partially justified in some of there comments in all fairness. but jap bikes arent without there problems. most recent for me is the yamaha r1 efi issue, sluggish response in the low end of the power band. remember the suzuki tl or sv tank slap issue, or the zx 10 engine failures bc they use sleevless clylinder heads to save weight. in all seriousness who gives a shit what they think, ride what you like at your own pace, what the fuck do they care what you ride.

Despite the issues here and there with the duc, the overall fit and finish is far superior to a Japanese bike. I mean, when I worked on my girls 600rr, I only took the plastics off like 3 times and all the plastic fasteners were loose or broken; the plastics never fit right unlike the duc which goes back perfect every time.

We also have better components, brakes, brake lines, suspension, lap timer with downloadable data, etc. So, I'll take the minor glitches I've had for the rumble between my legs. They can keep the generic looking bikes with lame ass decals
