I have severe anxiety attacks so as you can imagine any pain in the chest is pure hell for someone like me. Back in Feb I was getting ready for bed and started having this severe burning pain in my upper chest and into my back. I thought OMG heart attack, but it subsided some. The next morning it was back and I went to the ER. I was admitted b/c the doc said he saw some small little thing in the ecg he was unsure of. But according to the ecg I did not have a heart attack and the blood work came back negative as well. I was on a monitor all night as well as several more ECG. The next morning I was released and another doc said my ecg was all normal and felt that it was gastro related and my anxiety made it all worse. I have good b/p and its on the low side, my cholerstrol was perfect he said. I was put on prolosec. I was okay when I got home but a few days later it came on again, several times. I saw my doc and she did another ecg it was ok and holter monitor showed only pvc's. This pain will come and go, sometimes its mild burning all across the top of my stomach, sometimes its in my chest and neck. I feel that sitting at this desk makes it worse at times as well. I get nausua at times too. I am not short of breath and the pain comes on for no reason at all. It makes me have SEVERE anxiety and I am afraid I have angina, I read about it all the time. Could GERD make you feel this bad?? Can it come and go over time? i will have days or weeks and I am pain free almost. Last night I had a severe attack or burning and I thought I was going to die! It lasted for 1 hr. Now I just have some burning in my throat, but it seems better when I move around.
Please tell me if this is a gerd realated or am I having a heart disorder? I don't think maybe I am on enough meRAB? I also had gastritis and esophagitis many yrs ago, I think 15 or so yrs ago and had a egd. I just can't remeraber if this is how I felt then. I know I remeraber saying I burned in my back, but I am so afraid.
Thanks!

Yes, it certainly could be reflux related! I have had bad chest pain at times even though I've been on Nexium for a few years. You really need to see a Gastro specialist & have a scope to be sure though. A definite diagnosis would also give you peace of mind- even if it isn't the news you want. A scope can tell if you have any damage from the acid also & you can then be treated to stop things getting worse. Let us know how you go!
