my established 10 gallon is getting overcrowded and my 40 gallon is not set up yet, still filling with water. my mollies decided to have her 8 fry (so far)! so now the 40 needs to be set up asap to make room. If I took an old filter pad out of my established 10 gallon, some gravel, some plants, and a decoration; and transplanted that into the 40 gallon, would that be enough bacteria? I have two mollies and a few tetra in my 10 gallon. I was going to use a few of the tetra to fish cycle the 40 gallon. at what point should I add the fish to the 40 gallon? if the babies stayed in the 10 gallon till they were big enough do they need the filter or can I take that out all together and use that in the 40 gallon tank until I get a new one? or do they need the running water?
