Need some info from people who have used this phone or knows someone who uses it.
The situation:
A friend of mine has been using boost mobile. It's the ONLY carrier in his very rural stomping grounds that gets any kind of decent signal. So far he's been using one of Motorola's el-cheapo feature phones with basic talk, text and push-to-talk. It's gone through a lot of nasties, including his dog biting his antennae off, leading to a lot less reception inside buildings.
Lately I've been helping him look for a new phone. He owns a mechanic shop and does a lot of business on the go, traveling to other towns. He NEEDS access to craigslist, google maps and email on the go. So I've read that Motorola's i1 is the only Android-based smartphone that boost mobile sells and supports. Everything I've researched on it looks good, regardless of it only being on Android version 1.5 at the moment. I believe Android is the way to go with smartphones. Proprietary phone operating systems are epic fail in my experience.
My questions:
Even though it's touted as having "military specs" to its physical design, I need to know if there are cases that can protect this phone similar to the otter box cases for iphones etc. I scoured google for otter box cases made for the i1 but no luck. Do they exist and if not, are there good alternatives?
Any general information you can give me that I haven't already asked about and could be considered important to one looking to own this device...go all out.
Finally: Is there a phone I missed? Are there any other Android based smartphones that can be used with Boost Mobile's service?
Thanks.
