Need reliable, long battery, phone/text only

Hi all,

I'm looking for something with a good long battery life that can make calls and send text messages. Something that I can buy unlocked and unbranded (on Amazon for instance) and use on T-Mobile's network. That's about it.

Definite pluses, in order of preference, but not absolutely necessary:

Wi-Fi connectivity.
Ability to upload mp3s from my computer as ringtones.
Same ability for backgrounds or icon sets (I know icon sets is a long shot).

I don't care about or use camera/video.

EDIT : I forgot to mention that price is an issue. Wi-fi, computer connection, etc aren't worth $100 more to me if that's what it means.

If WiFi isn't important, you might find a Motorola V197 (or V195, but that will be T-Mobile-locked) cheap. Unbelievable battery life (claimed 7.5 hours talk/17 days standby, and I believe it), uses MP3s as ringtones with no problem, uses .jpg as wallpaper (128x160 pixels). You can Bluetooth-beam ringtones and wallpapers to it, too. No WiFi, though.

The V195/197 can use DRM icon sets and language packs/fonts meant for the L2/L6, and there are several of those available at modmymoto, along with an unbranded V197 monsterpack if you go the V195 route. I flashed that pack to my V195 about a month ago with no problem at all; just had to use the T-Mobile configurator to get the MMS settings.

A couple of weeks ago, T-Mobile had the V195 (not to be confused with the MyFaves "V195s") available on their prepaid side for $39.99. I think it's no longer available there.
